I moved to Charlotte 16 years ago from Hoboken, NJ, the NYC area, then moved a few miles to Matthews in 1999 to change high school districts; we moved so my oldest son could go into the well-regarded Providence High School district. Most of  Matthews goes to Butler High School today.

Matthews is where the Charlotte suburbs meet the countryside. Close in Matthews is indistinguishable from Charlotte, the outer reaches have horses, cows and cornfields as it blends into neighboring communities of Weddington, Wesley Chapel, Indian Trail and Waxhaw in Union County.
