Introducing the McDonald Group of Professional Real Estate Brokers

Our agents  are trustworthy, extremely competent, and caring. We understand the role of Buyer agents, and Listing Agent, they work  Always with the Client interest in mind.  Our commitment to our clients, to extraordinary Agency, and to the success of the  transaction is occasionally equaled- but never surpassed.

Philosophy: Integrity, Competence, and Hard Work

Terry puts his philosophy this way:

I’ve come to believe that you must have integrity and the desire to increase your competencies to be truly successful in life, and that these virtues are magnified by the practice of hard work. Creativity blossoms with determination, confidence under pressure is inspiring, and the ability to work with others to achieve goals is what makes this genuinely rewarding.

Integrity is first because that is something  can not be taught to an Agent, they have it or they don’t, and relationships are built on it. Increasing our Agent competence is something we take seriously and work on regularly.  Our increasing knowledge and commitment to modern Agency Best Practices  means we are on your side every day, learning every day and getting better every  day.  We want our buyers and sellers to be happy with the process, happy at closing, and if we run in to you six months later confident you chose the right advisers and made the best decisions.

Kim Lynip

Born in a small town in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate NY, Kim has always been known for her enthusiasm, sharp wit, and her down-to-earth manner. After marrying Bryan, her (Houghton) College sweetheart, the couple spent their first year of married life in Queens NYC… and thought a move south might be good for their future family.  The move to North Carolina in 1996 proved Providential and they have never looked back!  So, 3 children and 1 home-based business later, Kim enrolled in a Real Estate course and passed the State Exam on the first go-round! While Waxhaw, NC is now “home”, she works with Sellers throughout the South Charlotte Union county area, and has worked with Buyers all over the Greater Charlotte area.  She enjoys being part of the team of pros at Wilkinson & Associates and especially loves her partners, Paul & Shelley deMontesquiou and Terry McDonald. Kim firmly believes that this great Group is the answer to any need that a Buyer or Seller might have. ONE agent simply cannot do it all! Contact Kim to find out how this 4 for the price of 1 can be of help to you!

Shelley deMontesquiou

Shelley started her career-life in nursing, specializing in pediatrics, obstetrics and public heath.  She then went to law school and earned her JD.  She practiced law in a variety of areas to include Professional Liability such as Medical Negligence, and Construction Defect Litigation dealing with Contractors and Subcontractors and the Building Industry.  In law, she met her now husband Paul.  Together they have 5 children to include a set of twins.  She is co-author of the popular book “Heart to Heart” written about the first year of life with twins.  Shelley and Paul have always had a real estate “hobby” and have enjoyed remodeling homes.  So, together they took on yet another career as Realtors.  Shelley is active in all phases of the Buy and Sell side of brokerage. With her background in redesign, she naturally sought her Staging certification.  Shelley’s mantra for listing is “It is all about the 3 P’s:  Price, Pictures, and Presentation.”  Her philosophy for buyers focuses on the process, and being there to walk them through it.

Paul deMontesquiou

Broker,CA Attorney, Great Guy, Better Negotiator

Broker,CA Attorney, Great Guy, Better Negotiator, Fireman

Paul began his practice of law in 1978 and has represented a wide variety of clients in real estate for more than 30 years. Paul has negotiated matters of all kinds, but by 2003, he and Shelley decided they wanted a break from Southern California and law on a full time basis and so they moved their family to Charlotte in 2005 for the quality of life here.    With undergraduate study in psychology, and 25 years of law practice, Paul understands people.  While lawyers are not known for caring about others, this is not a fair reputation as there are those who pursue the profession in order to seek justice and serve those who need a Knight in shining armor to fight for them.  That is why Paul went into law, to be that Knight.  Paul still maintains a small practice in California.

In real estate, Paul loves to help people achieve their goals and dreams.  He works with Buyers and Sellers. Paul’s understanding and broad experience in law, contracts, negotiations, and deal-making brings a creativity to our Buyers and Sellers rarely seen in real estate.  His negotiating skills are unparalleled.  He is  known as the Fireman, as problem solving is his true specialty.  In real estate, he is known as the deal-maker. And who would not want that talent in their favor?

Knight, Ace Negotiator, Fireman.  What else could one want in a partner? Our partner, and your partner in real estate.

More About Terry

Terry made quite a ruckus at his first new home sales position while still in college; he sold over $1m in homes in the month before his 21st birthday, and did it again the following month to prove it wasn’t a fluke… the average price was under $100,000. Fast forward 25 years and having sold all of his own homes, he had to use a  local real estate agent to sell a rental in Charlotte,  and it was this process that encouraged him to get back into real estate.

While vastly interested in real estate, he was equally determined to find a new way. He found it HERE. Online.

It is the intersection of a very popular relocation city- Charlotte NC- plus the Internet revolution in Home buying and Selling, the rise of Buyer Agency in North Carolina and a terrific technological Broker-In-Chief, Scott Wilkinson. Now we are adding the jet fuel of Social Media to our business.

Wilkinson’s hi-tech approach suited him  well and within the first 6 months of joining Wilkinson & Associates (now with over 800 Agents, 2nd largest in Charlotte) he began building his first team because there were too many relocating families coming to Charlotte, and many times they chose the same week or weekend to visit and buy!

Resume Notes of Interest

Terry began his career in real estate while still in college, and sold his first million dollars of homes on a new home site one month before his 21st birthday in Germantown, Maryland.  Terry graduated and went to work in office products and insurance, and received a number of sales and sales training awards. He became involved in the building business going on to own a construction company, an advertising company and an Internet start up before returning to real estate 5 years ago. He has been a multi-million dollar producer from his first year. In 2006, he has sold more than $8M personally while building his team to 4 agents, and was named Top Team at Wilkinson and Associates. In 2007, his Team was Top Ten, and in 2008 Terry won Top Agent honors at the over 800 Agent Wilkinson and Associates.

Terry has been a Licensed General Contractor in three states, and has designed and built millions of dollars of residential construction as Superintendent, Designer, and Construction Manager.

Terry has also been an early adopter of the Internet having his first on-line business in1995.  Terry has become a prolific blogger working around his busy real estate schedule. He is now engaged in figuring out the New Media and mobile opportunities and advantages for his group of  real estate brokers.

Terry’s is a TERP with a BS Degree in Business from the University of Maryland.

Terry has served as President of a local Toastmasters group and is an accomplished speaker.

Terry has taught through out his professional life, from teaching and training sales professionals to adult  Sunday School. He has been active in his children’s education, who combined with his Professor of Education wife, make him quite the education junky.

Terry is married for 29 years and the father of four children.  A recent convert to a health-living lifestlye,  his outdoor hobbies include hiking and running, while inside its education,  history, foreign policy, politics and good conversation.

Kind words from past clients…

Terry assisted Mario and I with a long distance building process, which can be extremely difficult. Mr. McDonald was our eyes and ears during that time. He gave us briefings after he went to the construction site, took photos and even developed a website for us to view.”

Or from a client moving from London,
“Terry took the time to understand the type of house we were looking for, even if we couldn’t verbalize it ourselves at first. He was very responsive and flexible to our changing requirements with the
difficulties of moving from overseas.”

And from New York City: “Terry McDonald has not only been instrumental in helping us relocate from
New York City to Cornelius, North Carolina area, but, he has become our friend and confidant. His knowledge of the real estate, relocation and construction business is immeasurable.
